Celtic’s main goal each season aside from dominating domestically, is to reach the Champions League group stages.

The group stage, of course, has been replaced by the league format and Celtic enjoyed Champions League success last season.

Wins against RB Leipzig at Celtic Park and creditable draws at Atalanta and Bayern Munich elevated the Bhoys’ reputation amongst UEFA’s elite clubs.

However, needing to now negotiate a trick play-off tie, Sky Sports’ Kris Boyd has delivered a bold Champions League prediction on whether he thinks Celtic will make the league phase of the competition or not.

Kris Boyd admits Celtic will easily qualify for the Champions League

Normally very negative about Celtic, Boyd has delivered a very confident prediction about Celtic reaching the league phase of the Champions League.

Boyd said on Sky Sports, “Celtic will qualify for the Champions League. They’re strong enough. They wiped the floor with Bratislava last year.

“I mean, they absolutely wiped the floor with them, you know. So I can’t see Celtic not making it.

“Brendan Rodgers, for me, is an elite manager, he has got the right to go and challenge the Celtic board to ask questions [about signing new players].

“But I can see the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, the Celtic board will say, ‘We’ve given you a lot of money’, Brendan Rodgers, will be pushing to get more.

“But I think a lot it’ll come down to, with what happens with the Champions League. But for me, I think Celtic will be comfortable.”
