Chris Sutton has delivered a title prediction this morning as Celtic prepare to take on Kilmarnock.
With all the negativity surrounding the club at the moment and Brendan Rodgers shooting down a Celtic ‘narrative’ you would be forgiven for thinking that the league title was over and Celtic are set to end the season trophyless.
As it stands, Rodgers’ side is still top of the Scottish Premiership and in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
And whilst cup competitions can go either way, Sutton has delivered who he thinks will be top of the tree in the league when it comes to its conclusion in May.
Sutton said [Daily Record], “I’m fully aware the past counts for nothing in some respects, but, in other aspects, I feel that it does.
“Rodgers has been able to meet Rangers challenges stiff head-on in the past and come out the other end with the league flag.
“Clement poses the toughest test yet, but the Celtic boss has been there and done it. And, for all the Belgian’s improvements of Rangers, I’m certainly not thinking at this stage that Rodgers won’t do it again.”

With thirteen games to go, Celtic are still in the driving seat, albeit with the slenderest of margins. A win today puts the pressure back on Rangers and with two Glasgow Derbies still to play, you wouldn’t bet against Rodgers pulling off another masterstroke in the Ibrox fixture in April.
As I stated earlier this morning, Celtic still have some major players to come back into the first-team fold. This can only stand us in good stead.
With Motherwell, Dundee and Hearts all coming up in the next few weeks, Rodgers will be delighted that the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate and Alistair Johnston are close to returning to the first team ahead of the upcoming Glasgow Derby.
