Kasper Schmeichel has been one of Celtic’s best players this season.
The Denmark international has featured in all but one of Celtic’s fixtures this season as Brendan Rodgers looks to close in on another treble.
Schmeichel took over the goalkeeping reins from Joe Hart in the summer and since then, he has wowed Celtic fans with some truly impressive saves.
However, after the Celtic hero was injured in Denmark’s defeat to Portugal this week, the Parkhead support have been waiting to hear if Schmeichel will be fit to face Hearts at the weekend.
And now, it seems that Denmark boss Brian Riemer has delivered a verdict on the veteran goalie’s injury that will leave Brendan Rodgers a big Celtic call to make for this weekends game against the capital club.

Kasper Schmeichel ‘will not play’ for Celtic vs Hearts
Riemer told Sport TV 2, “The status is that Kasper is injured. And right now we are doing the in-depth studies, which should provide an indication of whether we are talking about a shorter, medium or long injury period.
“I don’t think there is any doubt that he will not play this weekend. He has recovered quickly from injuries before.
“I know he is keen on that in this case too, but he is injured and will be for the foreseeable future.”
Kasper Schmeichel’s first season at Celtic compared to Joe Hart
When Joe Hart announced his retirement it immediately sent a feeling of dread amongst the Celtic supporters.
A good goalkeeper is always hard to come by and after the Vasilis Barkas debacle, Hart restored the Celtic supporters’ faith in the Hoops last line of defence.
So as Schmeichel’s season looks like it’s come to a premature end, how has his first year at the club stacked up against Joe Hart’s?
| First Celtic season | Played | Conceded | Clean sheets | Minutes |
| Joe Hart | 54 | 47 | 26 | 4890 |
| Kasper Schmeichel | 46 | 44 | 24 | 4170 |
Hopefully, the injury won’t see the end of Schmeichel’s season at Celtic, and he gets to have a crack at the treble because, looking at how he has performed, the big Dane deserves it.
