It’s the waiting game for Celtic fans regarding Kasper Schmeichel’s injury.
The majority of football fans, and even club managers, hate the international break and the final one of the 2024/25 season hasn’t served Celtic well.
Denmark’s UEFA Nations League defeat to Portugal came at a cost, despite it starting so well for Celtic’s number one goalkeeper.
With a 1-0 lead from the first leg of this quarter-final clash, Schmeichel saved Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty after just five minutes of the return leg, but it went downhill from there.
Not only were the Danes beaten in extra time, but Schmeichel picked up an injury after one of those late offside calls.
And now everyone wants to know the extent of the 38-year-old’s injury.

Celtic take on Hearts on Saturday when Premiership action returns, and there is also Scottish Cup matters to deal with.
Simon Donnelly has shared that he is hearing that Schmeichel could be out for ‘months’, but equally it could only be ‘two weeks’, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
The Celtic Park faithful will be hoping it’s the latter because he doesn’t deserve for his season to end in such a way.
“It’s a bit of a blow,” said Donnelly. “It’s an opportunity for Sinisalo to come in. I believe it was one of those where they allowed an offside to run on.
“It’s frustrating that it has led to that injury. I have heard months have been said. I have heard for two or three weeks. We will have to wait and see.”
Schmeichel’s record at Celtic this season
Whatever happens with Schmeichel’s injury, one thing that can’t be argued is that it has been a stellar debut campaign from the one-time Premier League winner.
Joe Hart’s retirement in the summer came as a surprise, and he left big boots to fill.
Not only has Schmeichel come in and performed, but there could also be the argument that he has taken Celtic’s goalkeeping – and everything that comes with it – to the next level this season.
