Celtic’s 3-1 win over Motherwell on Sunday, if truth be told, should have been put out of sight well before Adam Idah’s 94th-minute goal.
The Republic of Ireland striker helped drag Celtic from the brink of dropping more points with another double but Brendan Rodgers had to wait until the dying embers of the game before the three points were guaranteed.
But it could, and should, have been a lot more comfortable for the Celtic manager as he watched his team create chance after chance in a second-half performance that was befitting of the Scottish champions.
However, it was what Daizen Maeda did against The Steelmen that left Alan Brazil absolutely gobsmacked.
Daizen Maeda’s Celtic sitter
The Japan international is famed for his electric pace and incredible engine but he is also notorious for his poor delivery and missing easy chances.
And on Sunday, it was his point-blank diving header at Fir Park that particularly caught Brazil’s attention.
Brazil said [talkSPORT], “The Maeda’s touch, not the Midas touch. How did he miss that header against Motherwell for Celtic?
“Did you not see his diving header? How did you miss that? I was astonished.”
McCoist chipped in with, “I don’t know but I was ecstatic!”

Maeda is a player who certainly frustrates the Celtic supporters. On his day he can be untouchable. On his day he can make even the best defenders look amateurish but those days are few and far between now.
However, he has been an excellent addition to the Celtic team since joining just over two years ago. Maeda has scored 23 goals and created 15 in 97 appearances since his move from Yokohama F Marinos. [Transfermarkt]
His contribution to Celtic’s success cannot be denied. However, if he just tidied up his finishing and his crossing, what a player he would be.
