‘I wish’ – Celtic treble hero who broke Rangers’ hearts clearly regrets Parkhead exit

Celtic have had a number of players leave the club and regret the move.

The most recent example of that is the return of Jota to the Bhoys. The Portuguese winger left Glasgow in a £25m move for Saudi Arabia, but the move never worked out, and now he finds himself back in Paradise.

Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic for Rennes but has also struggled to make an impact at his new club as he spends most of his time languishing on the Ligue 1 side’s bench.

And now, former Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has opened up on his Parkhead exit, and it is clear that he regrets how soon he left the Glasgow giants.

Christopher Jullien wishes he spent more time at Celtic

The big French defender cost Celtic £7m back in 2019 after Neil Lennon splashed the cash to sign him from Toulouse.

Now at Montpellier, Jullien has made over 50 appearances for the French club but still shares clear regret at leaving Celtic almost four years ago.

Jullien told The Celtic Way, “I wish I could have more time (at Celtic).

“The thing is, though, Celtic were playing unstoppable and unbelievable football when I was making my way back.

“Some people were saying to me that I should go and see the manager and talk to him, to know why I was not playing or what I could do to get on the team. I heard them, but I asked them ‘Did you see the team playing this weekend? What can I do? Why would the manager change a team that is winning?’

“They were crushing everyone, and it was crazy.”

Christopher Jullien’s record at Celtic including iconic League Cup final winner vs Rangers

Jullien spent two seasons at Celtic, winning two league titles, a Scottish Cup and a League Cup. In 2020 he helped the Hoops win the Quadruple Treble with an iconic League Cup-winning goal that had Rangers players in tears.

Jullien suffered a horrific knee injury during Ange Postecoglou’s time at Celtic and never really made his way back into the team.

Currently out of Montpellier’s team with a cruciate ligament tear, Jullien has clearly had time to think about his Celtic days and think ‘what if’ he had just stayed and tried to fight for his place.
