Ibrox assistant boss makes Celtic ‘financial’ claim ahead of Glasgow Derby vs Rangers

Celtic’s financial power is one of the club’s greatest success stories.

Peter Lawwell’s latest Celtic update had the Parkhead club in a strong financial footing as the Hoops posted profits of £26.9 million while their profit before tax was £43.9m.

With Celtic preparing to face Rangers for the Sunday Glasgow Derby, the Ibrox club is readying themselves for the visit of Jose Mourninho’s Fenrbache in the Europa League.

But that didn’t stop Rangers assistant boss Issame Charai from talking about Celtic’s financial resources as he appeared to start to get his excuses in early ahead of the Celtic Park clash.

Issame Charai admits Celtic have more ‘financial resources’ than Rangers

Charai told Gazet Van Antwerpen, “It’s going to be a crazy week with hopefully two wins. Barry wants to continue Philippe’s work in the Europa League.

“That worked out well last Thursday. The atmosphere in Istanbul was incredible, in Ibrox, it would be no different when packed with 52,000 men.

“Rangers do not have the same financial resources as Celtic, but they do have a lot of young talent that can pay off in the long run.

“It’s a huge club with a huge fan base. The greatness of the club I notice in everything. There’s a lot of pressure. I like that, that’s how I perform best.

“Every match must be won. Very different from OH Leuven, where losing once is not a disaster. Here, everyone is constantly pushed to the limit to win everything. In such an environment, I wanted to work.”
