Celtic fans have long known that the midfield area will need strengthening over the next season or two.
Brendan Rodgers, if he stays at Celtic, will be thinking that one of the midfield three positions will need an upgrade over the next couple of years should Callum McGregor hang up his boots or Reo Hatate moves on.
With quality midfielders difficult to come by at a reasonable price, Charlie Mulgrew has told Celtic there is one in the SPFL right now who could walk into Celtic’s first-team.
The former Celtic defender is a massive fan of Lennon Miller and here, Mulgrew tells Rodgers he could sign the Motherwell man and it wouldn’t be too ‘expensive’.

Charlie Mulgrew says Lennon Miller would be Celtic’s ‘top performer’ this season
The Lennon Miller to Celtic story is one that has been doing the rounds for around two years now.
Entering into the final year of his contract, the young Motherwell midfielder looks set to leave the club and Mulgrew reckons he would walk right into Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic team.
Mulgrew told The Go Radio Football Show, “Yeah, I would love to see Celtic sign Lennon Miller. I think that would be a great signing and play him in one of the number eight positions, ease him into the season. I think there’s no doubt about it.
“He would be one of Celtic’s top performers, I believe, this year.
“Imagine him playing for Celtic in that number eight position. Having a lot of possession and using that right foot, which is an absolute wand, to dictate games. It would be good to see.
“And I can’t see it being that expensive to get them from Motherwell, especially when they need to sell.”
When Lennon Miller is free talk to clubs, including Celtic
Miller’s contract at Motherwell expires at the end of May 2026. With just under a year to go, his value depreciates with each passing day.
Come January 1st, Miller will be able to speak to clubs about leaving Motherwell for free next summer and that includes Celtic.
Many Celtic supporters would love to see him pull on the green and white Hoops but many also concede that this may not now happen.
However, Motherwell won’t want to lose Miller for free so maybe, just maybe, Celtic could tempt the Lanarkshire club into selling him with a generous bid before any serious offers start to come in.
