Adam Idah has had a fairly successful Celtic career up until now.
In his first stint on loan, Idah won the first major honours of his career as he bagged a Scottish Premiership winners medal and scored the winning goal as Celtic beat Rangers in last season’s Scottish Cup final.
Now in his second season at Paradise, Idah has his eye on a treble as Celtic stretched their lead at the top of the table and look forward to facing Hibs in the cup at the weekend.
But it seems that Idah’s career could have been so different if he had his way as a youngster, as the Irishman explains a lesser-known hobby that could have kept the Celtic striker back in his homeland.

Celtic’s Adam Idah’s career-shaping hobby
Promoting Celtic’s summer friendly with Cork City at Cork GAA’s SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on the 8th of July, Idah shared how hurling was his main sport and not football when he was a youngster.
Idah said, “I love the hurling. I didn’t actually want to move over to England when I was younger. I wanted to stay and play hurling.
“I think it worked out well in the end, but I still love hurling. I watched the lads play in the final not that long ago. I still keep in touch with it.”
Adah Idah says hurling helped make him a Celtic player
Asked if he felt hurling had prepared him for a career in football, Idah said: “Yeah, I suppose so. It’s a lot more aggressive than football, I can tell you that. When I watch the games now, I’m like, ‘Wow! I don’t know how I used to do that’.
“I suppose any sport in general builds a lot of character in you when you’re younger. Playing with friends and going out and enjoying the sport you love can really build you as a person.
“Yeah, I suppose it has helped.”
Celtic fans will be thankful that Idah did choose a career in football because without the big Republic of Ireland striker, there would have been no league and cup double last season.
With the Hibs game up next, Celtic fans will be hoping that Idah delivers the same magic against the Easter Road club just as he did last season as he saved the Bhoys’ league campaign in Edinburgh.
