‘I’ve got a sneaky’ – Celtic fans told ‘something will happen’ with Brendan Rodgers’ contract

Brendan Rodgers’ current contract at Celtic runs out at the end of next season.

So far, the Celtic manager has been true to his word after stating he will see out the three-year deal he signed when he returned to the club in the summer of 2023.

Since then, Rodgers has won three trophies, progressed Celtic in the Champions League and is on the brink of winning the club’s record-breaking ninth domestic treble.

But as he enters the final year of his deal, all the talk now is whether or not Rodgers will extend his Celtic stay with pundits Simon Donnelly and Gordon Dalziel ‘100%’ sure of one thing.

Simon Donnelly ‘wouldn’t be suprised’ if new Celtic deal is offered after treble win

Donnelly, who is a regular contributor now to Celtic TV, believes that Rodgers will lead the Hoops to the treble and then Celtic will offer him a new deal.

Currently the highest-paid manager in Celtic’s history, the club would probably need to offer improved terms, which former Hoops striker reckons will happen.

Donnelly told Superscoreboard [19m 20s], “With the manager’s contract, I think something will happen. I think Celtic will go on and win the treble. That’s with no disrespect to the other teams.

“I think they will, they’ll get the job done. And I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something on the table in the summer, in due course.

“For the manager to come out, a real positive statement to say that he’s going to lengthen his time at the club. And put that one year left to bed, I think they’ll offer him something in the summer, and the club will look to kick on again.

Celtic are a ‘100% certainty’ to offer Brendan Rodgers a contract

Dalziel was just as unequivocal with his verdict on Rodgers staying at Celtic. The Superscoreboard pundit is adamant that the Carnlough-born man is loving life at Paradise.

Dalziel added, “Look, I think it’s 100% certainty they’re going to offer him something in the summer. It’s just what Brendan Rodgers feels. I think he enjoys his time in Scotland.

“I think he loves managing Celtic. He loves winning trophies. I would be surprised if they didn’t go on and clinch a treble this year.

“But I think like everything else, managers, players, sometimes they look down south again, and if a big job comes up, there may be a big, big, big decision.

“But right now, I think Celtic are in a good place with everything and their manager and their manager is a top manager.

“I think if Brendan Rodgers left, they would find it very difficult to get someone better. But I’ve just got a sneaky that he likes being successful, he likes winning trophies, and he likes managing Celtic Football Club.”

Celtic fans will put all the talk of Rodgers’ future to one side this weekend as they focus their attention fully on the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone.

After that, a title-winning party also awaits the supporters if Celtic beat or draw with Dundee United at Tannadice the following weekend.

With so much to celebrate over the next couple of weeks, Rodgers’ Celtic future can wait as Hoops supporters prepare to honour their heroes.
