Greg Taylor’s future at Celtic has been the topic of much discussion for much of the season.
The Hoops fullback is out of contract at the end of the season and could walk away from Celtic Park for nothing in the summer.
With Celtic have offered Taylor a new deal but as yet, the Scotland defender is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.
Brendan Rodgers has not given up the fight to keep Taylor at Celtic, but according to Simon Donnelly, it seems that the Hoops 5-1 battering of Kilmarnock could affect if the left-back decides to stay in Paradise or not.

Simon Donnelly ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Greg Taylor stayed at Celtic now
Donnelly told Superscoreboard, “Greg Taylor, for me, at the weekend, let his football do the talking. I don’t know what reasons there’s been [for not signing a new deal].
“Maybe they couldn’t get as close to a financial package that him and his team would like. Who knows? Maybe he wants to go to pastures new. I do not know.
“I take on board that when you leave the likes of Celtic, yeah, sometimes it can only be one way in terms of success, and he’s won 10 trophies. I mean, that’s a hell of a haulage in the short space of time he’s been there.
“It shows the success of the team. However, I think the wheel has turned a wee bit over the weekend. I think now you hear the manager talking about it.
“I would not be surprised if they came to terms and Greg Taylor’s at Celtic next year.”
Two things that happened vs Kilmarnock that could sway Greg Taylor’s Celtic decision
So what could have happened over the weekend that may have swayed Taylor’s decision to stay at Parkhead?
Firstly, Taylor’s emotional Celtic Park moment where he introduced his newborn daughter to a packed Paradise could have been a signal of intent by the Hoops fullback that he could be about to extend his stay.
Secondly, and this is probably the most important reason, Rodgers’ tribute to Taylor post-match where the Celtic manager vowed ‘to fight’ for him may have shown the 27-year-old how valued he is and that he still has an important part to play in Rodgers’ plans.
With Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic in the summer, Taylor clearly felt he would be the second-choice fullback at the club.
That may well still be the case, however, like Donnelly says, maybe the events against Kilmarnock have helped swayed Taylor’s mind and a contract extension could be imminent.
