James Forrest has revealed how he plans to celebrate writing himself into the Celtic history books.

Forrest became Celtic’s most decorated player of all time after the Hoops won the Scottish Premiership title for a 55th time.

Brendan Rodgers’ side hammered Dundee United 5-0 at Tannadice to claim the title in convincing fashion.

It was a special day for every Bhoy involved, but Forrest was at the centre of the achievements.

The latest win was the 33-year-old’s 26th major honour since making his debut under Neil Lennon in 2010, and can still add to that with the Scottish Cup final.

Now he sits at the top of the tree in the record books, the winger plans to mark the occasion in a special way.

James Forrest plans to meet Bobby Lennox after breaking record

Following the title win at the weekend, Forrest has overtaken Celtic legend Bobby Lennox in the list of most-decorated players of all time.

The 81-year-old was a part of the famous Lisbon Lions side that won the European Cup in 1967 and after surpassing his record, the current Hoops star revealed he plans to pay him a visit.

He said: “I’ve met Bobby a few times, but he is not keeping so great just now.

“I plan to go and see him this week.

“I have met his family too. They are all so humble and that stands you in good stead for players coming through.”

James Forrest emotional after title win

Having been here through thick and thin, the Scotland international is used to winning trophies with his boyhood club, but this one seemed more poignant than others.

Visibly emotional from supporters chanting his name in the stands, Forrest admitted that he had to try and keep himself composed.

“As I was walking off the pitch, I started getting a bit emotional and was having to try and control it.

“Maybe you don’t get any chance to celebrate it because you are on to the next one straight away.

“But it just kind of hit me. It is unbelievable to hear and hopefully there is more to come.”
