What a career James Forrest has had in the colours of Celtic.
The 33-year-old made his Celtic debut in 2010, and fast forward to the present, and he is still going strong at his boyhood club.
That was proven over the weekend when Celtic thrashed St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final and booked their final showdown with Aberdeen.
It’s another chance for Forrest to win the Treble at Parkhead, as he is edging ever closer to becoming Celtic’s most decorated player of all time.
Tony Watt, now at Motherwell, scorer of that famous goal against Barcelona, was on Celtic’s books when Forrest was coming through.
And he shared an insight into what his close friend is like off the field of play.

Tony Watt hails James Forrest as a ‘very good’ pro at Celtic
Forrest recently returned from injury, and pretty much straight away, he is already starting games for Brendan Rodgers.
Nicolas Kuhn’s drop in form has played a part in that, but Forrest is taking his chance and performing very well.
Watt told Open Goal that, despite being out for months, his former Celtic teammate is playing like he ‘hasn’t missed a day’ of action.
But Watt thinks that is down to Forrest’s professionalism off the field of play, including how well he eats, as his actions off the field of play won’t surprise fans and proves why he has reached such a level.
“He was out for three months with a broken foot, and he has come back and looked like he hasn’t missed a day,” said Watt.
Watt on being close to Forrest: “Aye, I love him. He is a very good pro. Always stretching. Always eating right.
“I will be embarrassed if we go out for food sometimes, because what I will order, you know what I am like. A big eater. He is maybe having a wee cheat somewhere, but then everything else is healthy.
“If you go out with your mate, you sometimes get a wee bit ahead of yourself.”
Forrest’s Celtic career in numbers
You are going to have to go a long way for someone to match what Forrest has done, and remember, he is still going.
This is pure dedication to Celtic, being a one-club man and playing a huge part in the most dominant period of the club’s history.
Perhaps if Callum McGregor continues to play for many years to come, then he might surpass Forrest and become the club’s most decorated player.
But, by the end of the week, that tag should firmly lie at the feet of Forrest.
| Club | Games | Goals | Assists | Trophies |
