Celtic isn’t a pleasant place to be when you are losing matches.
It’s even worse if you aren’t proven at the club, or in Wilfried Nancy’s case, have lost your first two games in charge.
Celtic’s 3-0 defeat to Roma on Thursday night in the Europa League has already piled the pressure on Nancy, even though he has just walked through the doors.
In truth, the Celtic players need to look in the mirror because they have been abject for most of the season, but football is such a place that it’s the manager who will be in the bigger spotlight, regardless.

Johan Mjallby issues a warning to Wilfried Nancy after Celtic lose again
Johan Mjallby understands the pressures of having to succeed at Celtic, and he kept it simple for the new man in the dugout.
Celtic take on St Mirren in the League Cup final on Sunday at Hampden, and Mjallby told TNT Sports (11/12/25) that if the Hoops lose that, then ‘Uh-Oh.’
“If Celtic don’t win on Sunday… Uh oh,” said Mjallby. “Nancy needs to start winning games. He’s the manager of Celtic.
“Every time I watch Celtic, they don’t have that intensity from 12 months ago. I want to see them on the front foot every time, especially at home.”

Joe Hart’s honest reaction to Celtic’s current situation after Roma defeat
Joe Hart was only recently in the Celtic dressing room, so he knows quite a lot of these players who now look like shadows of themselves.
Speaking on commentary for TNT Sports, Hart expressed that he is heartbroken at Celtic’s current situation, including watching fans leave the stadium early for the second game running.
“This is such a special football club,” stated Hart.
“But it’s only special when it’s united. It breaks my heart to see [Celtic Park] like this. The atmosphere just isn’t there.’
