John Hartson bluntly tells the truth after Celtic’s defeat against Hearts

John Hartson didn’t hold back in his assessment of the Celtic side after their loss against Hearts.

Celtic were beaten in back-to-back league games for the first time since December 2023 and are now eight points behind the table-toppers.

Dane Murray and Benjamin Nygren disappointed, while manager Brendan Rodgers looked defeated on the sidelines.

It has been a dismal season for the Hoops, and Celtic legend Hartson said it how it was on social media.

John Hartson feels Celtic have lost their identity

While commentating on the game, Craig Levein said Celtic had no fight left, and it is a sentiment that Hartson would almost certainly agree with.

Posting after full-time on X, the Welshman admitted that he is struggling to recognise this current crop of Hoops stars.

He said: “Well done Hearts.. didn’t recognise this Celtic team…”

Over the course of the 90 minutes, Celtic only had two shots on target – both of those coming in the first half at Tynecastle.

Celtic’s next three games define their season

Make no mistake, the next block of fixtures will make or break Celtic’s season.

They begin that run on Wednesday 29 October when they host Falkirk at Parkhead.

Rodgers’ side will be the favourites and need to win before the small matter of a Glasgow derby semi-final against Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup.

To round off those games is the Europa League away trip to the Netherlands to face Feyenoord.

All three of those competitions have different levels of importance, and failure in any of them will only sour the mood even more.
