There have been plenty of superlatives thrown around after Celtic earned a superb point in the Champions League with a draw against Atlanta.
Chris Sutton labelled Celtic’s display as ‘brave’ as the big Englishman noted the brilliant performances of Auston Trusty and Liam Scales in the heart of the Hoops defence.
The Celtic fans lauded Trusty as ‘outstanding’ as the American defender kept the likes of Ademola Lookman and Mateo Retegui at bay.
And James McFadden also saved some praise for Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers for silencing his critics after Celtic’s ‘fantastic’ result against the free-scoring Serie A side.
The point is, Celtic are getting the praise they richly deserve and it took John Hartson just five words to sum up his former club’s Champions League performance.
John Hartson hails ‘heroic’ Celtic in Champions League draw with Atalanta
Being a striker himself, Hartson knows what it takes to batter down defences and after watching the Celtic team batten down the hatches in Italy, Hartson simply said, “Heroic defensive display from Celtic.. 💪🏻👏🏼👏🏼”
Liam Scales and Auston Trusty draw the Celtic plaudits vs Atalanta
Whilst it was a superb collective team effort from all the Celtic players, Liam Scales and Auston Trusty were absolutely solid for Brendan Rodgers last night.

There was trepidation heading into the game after Cameron Carter-Vickers was ruled out for the trip to Bergamo but both players stood tall as Celtic earned their first-ever Champions League point on Italian soil.
Chris Sutton lauded both Celtic players as excellent in his post-match reaction to the draw which led to the Hoops fans then singling out Trusty for his part in keeping Atalanta at bay.
Brendan Rodgers spent £6m on the American in the summer and has helped to mould a formidable partnership with the Irishman in Carter-Vickers’ absence.
