Celtic’s draw against Atalanta in the Champions League will breathe new life into the fans who were probably fearing the worst in Bergamo tonight.
To a man, every Celtic player was superb against Atalanta and it is hard to pick fault in any of their performances.
However, Chris Sutton’s reaction to Celtic’s draw at the Gewiss Stadium has drawn a reaction from the fans about central defender, Auston Trusty.
A £6m signing from Sheffield United, Trusty has been thrust into the Celtic team due to Cameron Carter-Vickers’ injury status and after tonight, it seems that the American is being viewed in a new light by the Hoops support.
Auston Trusty blows Celtic fans away vs Atalanta
Celtic fans were still traumatised by the defeat to Dortmund earlier this month and if they are being truthful, many were probably fearing the worst tonight.
But after Sutton hailed Trusty’s ‘last-ditch defending’, the Celtic fans all weighed in on their praise of their new summer signing.
Another Celtic fan commented, “Agreed a mature and considered approach. Huge effort from all. Trusty was fantastic. Fine-tune that long pass on the break and who knows!?! Really proud of them.”
This Celtic fan believes the American just had his best game in a Celtic jersey:
Another Hoops supporter lauded Trusty’s partnership with Scales, “Thought big Trusty had a good game. as did Scalesy.” and another posted, “Auston Trusty with a MOTM performance 💪”
And the big US international is starting to look like a Celtic player:
Maybe a bit over the top but I think this sentiment will be shared by all Celtic fans after Trusty’s performance against Atalanta:
How Auston Trusty has fared so far at Celtic this season
Barring the defeat to Borussia Dortmund, Trusty has never been in a losing team at Celtic this season so far.

In six outings for Celtic, Trusty has started and finished wins over Falkirk, Ross County and St Johnstone and the 2-2 draw against Aberdeen at the weekend.
The US international also got a five-minute cameo in the Hoops’ 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava earlier this month but it’s fair to say that the 26-year-old has paid back a large chunk of his £6m fee tonight against Atalanta.
With Motherwell up next, Trusty has done his chances of keeping his place in the team no harm at all after his Atalanta performance tonight.
