Celtic could be boosting the left side of attack and defence during the January transfer window, with names already popping up.
Whether it’s Brendan Rodgers in his first spell or Ange Postecoglou, the club have been very good at bringing little gems in and transforming them into top-quality stars.
Well, there are claims that Celtic could be targeting Estoril winger Tiago Araujo – the Portuguese media have delivered their lowdown.
John Hartson was told that it could take ‘£4.2 million’ to sign Tiago Araujo and he stated that ‘he would have had a bit of pedigree to value him that much’, as he told Go Radio.
Added to that, the 22-year-old is someone who can operate as a left-winger and a left-back – which is interesting given the latest claims about Celtic looking for a left-sided player.
This is one to certainly look out for, especially with the January transfer window set to open next month.
Tiago Araujo to Celtic?
“For £4.2 million, you would think he would have had a bit of pedigree to value him that much,” said Hartson.
“A left-sided player. I think Celtic could do with a left-sided player. Somebody with a good engine. Somebody with a really, really good delivery, whether he plays at left-back or further up the pitch.
“We know we have got Liam Scales who is that left-sided centre-back. Listen, Celtic and Rangers will be interested in decent players.”

Big month ahead before the transfer window opens
Of course, talk of transfers, both incomings and outgoings, has been escalated by the club’s pretty poor performances and results in Europe.
That is and will continue to be dealt with. But it also needs to be remembered that a big month still needs dealing with.
It has started fairly well with wins over St Johnstone and recently Hibernian, with Hyeongyu Oh shining.
But with Rangers on the horizon on 30th December, if that gap at the top can, at the very least, be eight points, then the mood going into January will be uplifting indeed.
