John Hartson shares what he’s been told about ‘ridiculous’ player who left Celtic ‘under a cloud’

Celtic have had plenty of players who have left the club and have gone on to do great things at other clubs.

Others have not been so lucky. At the moment, Kyogo Furuhashi is struggling at Rennes, Jota returned to Celtic because moves to Al Ittihad and Rennnes didn’t work out.

Even the talented striker, Odsonne Edouard, has found life away from Celtic hard as he struggles at Crystal Palace.

But there is one former Celtic player who left the club back in 2021 who has gone to the English Premier League about whom John Hartson has been hearing rave reports on.

John Hartson talks up former Celtic attacker Ryan Christie

Ryan Christie had a successful career at Celtic, winning four league titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

Called up for Scotland by Steve Clarke yesterday, Christie also scored 42 goals and created 44 before leaving Celtic for Bournemouth and according to what Hartson has been told, his form is ‘ridiculous’.

Hartson told The Go Radio Football Show, “Even Ryan Christie, I know he left Celtic under a little bit of a cloud, but my mate watched a game a couple of weeks ago, I think it might have been at Bournemouth, but he said at the end of the game, Bournemouth won, and he said to me that Ryan Christie was unplayable.

“He was absolutely ridiculous on the day, and it just goes to show for me why he’s in the Scotland squad.

“He has something a little bit different to what you’ve got.”

Out of the 42 goals Christie scored for Celtic, the Bournemouth forward netted some of the most important in the club’s history.

• 11/1/20: Scottish Cup semi-final: Celtic 2 v 0 Aberdeen. Christie scored the opener in the Quadruple Treble winning season
• 12/20/20: Scottish Cup final: Celtic 3 v3 Heart of Midlothian. Again, Christie scored the opener but missed a penalty in the shoot-out that won Celtic the Quadruple Treble.

• 12/2/18: Scottish League Cup Final: Celtic 1 v 0 Aberdeen. Christie scored the only goal of the game to put Celtic on course for the Double Treble.
