John Hartson believes that Luis Palma’s time at Celtic is over after the recent headlines surrounding the Parkhead winger.

67 Hail Hail discussed yesterday how Palma was linked with a Celtic exit with clubs from Europe and the MLS apparently keen on the Honduras international winger.

Brendan Rodgers commented on Luis Palma’s future at the club and whilst the Celtic boss didn’t address the rumour directly, he did say that the Honduran’s recent time at the club has been ‘difficult’ and that he ‘might’ get an opportunity in the first-team later in the season.

However, that’s not a feeling that is shared by John Hartson as the former Celtic striker believes Palma could be out of Celtic sooner rather than later.

John Hartson says Luis Palma could leave Celtic in January

Hartson told The Go Radio Football Show, “If Palma goes they will certainly want to get another one in over on that left-hand side. It is looking like the writing is on the wall for Palma at Celtic.

“It’s in the papers every other day that he is not happy and his dad has been quoted saying this and that. I just feel that if they get the right type of offer in January, I think they might act on that.

“I don’t think he’s done enough either. I think he has played in fits and starts. Sometimes he likes to play and does something really, really special and you think ‘Wow he’s back and is a good player, take it onto the next game’.”

John Hartson tells Celtic winger Luis Palma where he needs to improve

Palma has really struggled to make the Celtic matchday squad never mind the starting lineup. The 24-year-old has been omitted from the last three squads and Hartson has told him where he needs to improve the Honduran wants to change that.

Hartson continued, “He flatters to deceive a little bit. When he is one-on-one he tends to cut inside and pass it into midfield.

“You want to get a defender or opposing player in a situation with someone like Palma to run at him and make something happen.

“The amount of times he turns back, but then again in the following he might do something very good and you think he’s got something.”

Palma has had personal issues recently at Celtic that he has had to deal with and, clearly, these have taken their toll on him.

Despite Palma impressing for Honduras in the last international break, the winger can’t shift the likes of Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and James Forrest who are all having a great season at Celtic.

Whether Palma stays or goes one thing is for sure, he needs to start upping his performances in training at Celtic or he could remain out in the cold for the foreseeable future.
