Kieran Tierney’s return to Celtic from Arsenal is highly anticipated by the Parkhead support.

Tierney left Parkhead in 2019 but a return to Paradise since his £25m Celtic exit has always been rumoured to happen at one point in the Arsenal defender’s career.

A life-long Celtic fan, Tierney’s return to Celtic will undoubtedly strenthen Brendan Rodgers’ first-team, especially after how the Scotland defender has contributed to Arsenal’s Champions League campain this season.

The Gunners have reached the semi-final of the competition and after John McGinn exited the tournament after the defeat by PSG, the Aston Villa captain paid tribute to Tierney and shared what he really thought about the Arsenal defender’s move to Celtic.

John McGinn hails ‘unbelieveable’ Kieran Tierney’s move from Arsenal to Celtic

McGinn, a self-confessed Celtic supporter, has been an outstanding singing for Aston Villa over the last six years.

Taking them from the English second-tier to a Champions League quarter-final, McGinn will undoubtedly go down as a legend at the club.

Tierney himself is already regarded as a Celtic legend by many Hoops supporters and McGinn has admitted what he really thinks of the Arsenal’s man’s return to his boyhood club.

McGinn told The Sunday Post, “I’m really pleased for Kieran. “He is an unbelievable footballer and totally dedicated to his profession.

“Celtic is his club and I would imagine he is really excited about going back and playing again under Brendan Rodgers.

“I’ve no doubt Kieran will add extra quality to the squad and his experience will be invaluable as they push towards remaining the dominant team in the country.

“It’s also about progress in Europe and Kieran will want to help the club into the Champions League. It’s the tournament every footballer wants to be involved in.

“So, I wish Kieran well but he also has plenty to look forward to with Arsenal in the next few weeks and he’ll be desperate to go out on a high.”

Celtic-bound Tierney’s winning record for Arsenal vs McGinn at Aston Villa

McGinn has faced Arsenal 11 times during his Aston Villa career winning five and losing six.

However, the Aston Villa skipper has faced Tierney five times over that period and the Celtic-bound Arsenal man’s record is quite impressive.

Tierney has won three of these encounters and lost two so it seems that Arsenal are losing a bit of a lucky charm over the Midlands club.

That will make McGinn doubly pleased that Tierney is making the return move to Celtic.
