Johnny Kenny is enjoying life out on loan at Bolton Wanderers and is preparing for the League One play-offs. But could he pull on the Celtic shirt again this season?

Bolton have all but guaranteed their place in the play-offs which means that Kenny, who is in a rich vein of form, could help fire the Whites to the Championship.

The League One play-off final falls on the weekend of the Scottish Cup final and if he doesn’t succeed with Bolton, could he come back to help the Hoops in the final stages of the season?

Does Johnny Kenny have a long-term future at Celtic?

Can Johnny Kenny play for Celtic again this season?

To put it shortly, the Republic of Ireland international could technically play for Celtic again this season.

FIFA rules state that players cannot play for more than two clubs in the same season, which means the forward is not at risk of breaking that.

If Bolton do not make it to the play-off final, there is a chance that the striker could come back into the fold for the cup final against Dunfermline.

His loan would have to end prematurely, but it is an option for Martin O’Neill and Celtic if they feel that they need extra firepower.

Johnny Kenny can leave Celtic this summer if clubs pay up

Apart from a brief run of form during O’Neill’s first stint in charge, the Sligo-born striker is yet to really set the world alight at Celtic.

All of his best moments have come during loan spells away from the club, which is helping to inflate his price tag.

Steven Schumacher may look to make his deal permanent, and if Celtic can get anywhere between £1.5-£3m, they should consider cashing in.
