Football can be a crazy world at times and Celtic have witnessed that recently.

From the drama of securing knockout football in the Champions League to the Kyogo Furuhashi news hitting everyone in the face hours after Celtic’s win over Young Boys on Wednesday night.

Fast forward to the present and Kyogo has left Celtic to join Rennes and Jota has returned after being frozen out by the French club.

It’s amazing how things can change, as this is a bitter-sweet moment for the fans because, on the one hand, many are gutted to see Kyogo leave, but on the other, it’s the return of a man they adored.

Jota left Parkhead for the Saudi Pro League during the summer of 2023 after huge success under Ange Postecoglou, including winning the Treble.

But life hasn’t panned out like he would have liked and now he is back in green & white colours, including a message for the departed Kyogo.

What Jota said about Kyogo Furuhashi after returning to Celtic

Kyogo and Jota built an incredible partnership together under Ange and they produced memories fans will remember for a long time.

Jota was asked about the Japan star leaving just as he joined and if it’s a ‘shame’ that they won’t play together.

The returning Celtic star stated, ‘I wish I could still play with him more times’, which will be heartbreaking to hear for fans because they won’t get to see it again – or so you think – but Jota did also explain how this is ‘the wheel of football’, as he told Sky Sports News (27/01/25 at 4:25 pm).

“Kyogo is someone that I have a very good relationship with on the pitch,” said Jota. “This is football (on Kyogo leaving as he returns). Everything changes from one moment to another.

“I wish I could still play with him more times. The wheel of football is always moving and then you need to adapt yourself.”

Jota’s record at Celtic

Let’s look at the positive and what lies ahead for the Bhoys, especially as Rodgers is chasing another Treble and Jota knows all about that!

Sort that striker situation out, bring someone in before the deadline and Celtic can make some serious noise in the Champions League.

The thought of Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and Jota ripping it up is a joy to behold, as the Portuguese star’s record speaks for itself.
