Jeffrey Schlupp’s loan spell at Celtic is coming to an end.

The Crystal Palace defender was frozen out at Selhurst Park until Celtic agreed to take Schlupp on loan in January until the end of the season.

Schlupp impressed in his early days and even kept Greg Taylor out of the Celtic starting XI for a period of time.

The full-back impressed in Celtic’s draw against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and the opinion among some fans was that he could become a permanent addition to the squad.

But Greg Taylor had other ideas and quickly reinstated himself as the first choice left-back as Schlupp’s form at Celtic took a dip.

Now, it seems, that Schlupp’s next destination won’t be Celtic Park.

Leicester City want Celtic loan star Jeffrey Schlupp as Crystal Palace contract expires

The benefit of the Celtic move for Schlupp is that with his participation in high-profile Champions League matches, he has put himself in the shop window over the last four months. And it seems to have worked.

Journalist, Pete O’Rourke has shared that Leicester are keen on Schlupp and said on social media, “Leicester are eyeing a move to bring former star Jeffrey Schlupp back to the club.

“Schlupp, who spent the second half of this season on loan at Celtic, is out of contract at Crystal Palace next month.”

Schlupp has made 17 appearances in the green and white Hoops and is on course to pick up his second winner’s medal at Celtic should he help Brendan Rodgers win the Scottish Cup this weekend.

The numbers behind Jeffrey Schlupp’s Celtic spell

When Schlupp makes his Celtic exit, what can’t be denied is the impact he made at the club. A strong and athletic defender, the Ghanaian gave Greg Taylor some much-needed competition at the club.

But in his 17 appearances, here is the impact Schlupp made at Celtic:

When he moves on at the end of the season, Schlupp does so with the best wishes of much of the Celtic support.
