Tomas Cvancara is the second Celtic loan player from January whose season has now ended because of injury.

Celtic’s striker from Borussia Mönchengladbach joins Julian Araujo in his season being cut short, as Martin O’Neill’s side push for a domestic double.

On Friday night, Cvancara confirmed on Instagram that his season and loan spell at Celtic has come to an end, with Araujo wishing the striker a ‘speedy recovery.’

Cvancara’s final game for Celtic was a 1-0 win over St Mirren in the Premiership, but a torn adductor now means the Czech star requires surgery.

Should Celtic bring Tomas Cvancara back next season?

Cvancara may have only scored two goals during his loan spell at Celtic Park, and he didn’t grab that striker position like many would have liked.

But he still provided the Hoops with a memorable moment, and that’s scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout victory against Rangers in the Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox.

If Celtic win the domestic double, or any trophy for that matter, hopefully, medals will be heading the way of Cvancara and Araujo.

Had the duo played during Celtic’s post-split fixtures, then perhaps they could have staked a claim to be signed permanently.

But you would think it’s unlikely that would happen now, mainly because they have also missed the most important part of this chaotic season.
