Celtic’s foray into the Asian transfer market continued this summer with the additions of Hyunjun Yang and Hyeokkyu Kwon.

Both players have had cameo appearances for the club in preseason and in the early parts of the new season, but one in particular has impressed South Korean boss, Jurgen Klinsmann.

Brendan Rodgers was speaking about both players in the media and revealed a conversation with Klinsmann where the Korean national team manager was left impressed with one of the new signings’ contributions to the team already.

Rodgers said [The Sun], “Jurgen hadn’t seen a lot of Yang or Kwon but he was really impressed at Yang’s contribution in the Aberdeen game.

“I was saying to him the two boys have come in with a personality. Kwon played against Athletic Bilbao when he was only just in the country.

“They have come from a different tempo of game and they are not going to adapt and settle straight away. But they have in terms of the training and probably Yang more so because he is an attacking player. It’s good to have them here together. They are talented players and the Asian market has obviously been a really good market.

“I didn’t know Jurgen but I spoke to him before when he was with America. He’s got a pretty good life in California!

“I’m sure there will be a connection because of the players so I’m here whenever he wants to speak to me.

“I’ve spoken to Graham Arnold before with Australia and I am always more than ready to give my opinion.”

I have spoken before on 67 Hail Hail about how both players have equipped themselves well considering their relatively short time in a Celtic jersey.

Kwon looks a solid addition to the defensive midfield area and Yang looks like he has the potential to be an exciting player out on the Hoops wing.

It’s still early days in both of the Korean player’s Celtic careers but it seems that if they do continue to impress at Paradise, especially Yang, a national team call-up may not be too far away.
