South Korea manager, Jurgen Klinsmann had some words of encouragement for Celtic striker, Hyeongyu Oh after the recent international window.
Oh has yet to break his scoring duck for the Koreans despite being given an opportunity in the last three internationals by the German coach. We told last week how Oh revealed the advice his manager gave him after the loss to Peru.
After South Korea’s recent international results saw Klinsmann pick up a draw against El Salvador and a defeat against Peru, the national manager was asked what he thought he needed to do to improve the side’s results in the future and their goalscoring threat.

Klinsmann said [JoongAng], “I need to train more, train more, train more. I think I need to be able to trust myself in training and score goals on the pitch.
“Hwang Eui-jo and Cho Kyu-sung needed a lot of time to find their feet in the K League after the World Cup, and Hyeongyu Oh scored for Celtic but didn’t play many 90-minute games.
“In terms of physical condition, it is difficult to maintain endurance for 90 minutes.
“You have to believe in him and train him, and if the goals don’t come, you can’t help it, but if you hug him and pat him on the back, chances will come.
“Cho Kyu-sung also had two perfect chances today. All you can do is train and prepare.” [translated by Deep L]
Oh has certainly shown in a Celtic jersey that when chances present themselves, he has the ability to put the ball in the back of the net.

Despite his limited minutes from the bench for the Hoops, he still managed to bag seven goals, which included a double on Trophy Day.
However, the step up to international duty is different. Besides it being at a higher level, Oh had a limited amount of time to get to know his teammate’s style of play, runs passing movements etc.
That will come for the young striker. Klinsmann has already stated that he believes Oh is ‘a very special talent‘. If the striker continues his growth at Celtic and his development at international level, I believe it won’t be too long before we see Oh’s first goal in a Korea shirt.
