As the pre-season preparations continue for Celtic, the fans will be focused on just seeing the team getting for the new season ahead.

With the first leg of the US Summer Tour completed, Celtic’s 4-0 win over DC United was a great way to start off the team’s visit to the region.

With games against Man City and Chelsea to come, Brendan Rodgers will have put valuable minutes against quality opposition into the Celtic squad’s legs in preparation for the curtain raiser against Kilmarnock on the 4th of August.

However, it is not the pre-season games against Premier League sides that Kenny Dalglish believes is giving Celtic an early advantage over Rangers this summer.

It’s two different things entirely.

Dalglish’s double Celtic warning to Rangers

The former Celtic hero was casting his eye on what is set to come up for both clubs after the pre-season friendlies have concluded and Dalglish believes that automatic qualification for the Champions League group stages has given his old team two ‘strong’ advantages over their rivals.

Dalglish said [The Sunday Post print edition page 64], “As we all know, Celtic have a smoother start to the season because they do not have the stress of Champions League qualifiers to cope with.

“But there is also work to do at Parkhead and Brendan Rodgers will be keen to add quality players to his squad as quickly as possible.

“Celtic are in a strong position financially and able to shop in a different market from Gers. Let’s see who they bring in.

“There might be one or two youngsters ready to come through from the Gers system.”

The amount of money Celtic earned from last season’s participation in the group stages has put the club in a great position for this transfer window.

And if Celtic do go and spend big, Rodgers could put some real distance between the Parkhead club and Ranges for years to come.

The Celtic boss has added two players to his squad and with Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo expected to follow soon, Rodgers is building his team up nicely without the added pressure of them needing to gel for any Champions League qualifiers this summer.

What a great place Celtic are in right now compared to our rivals who just seem to be toiling at every turn.
