Celtic’s easy win over Rangers at Celtic Park showed that there is a big gulf on the park between the two clubs.
Off the park, Celtic’s financial health is in a much better state than their rivals after picking up £30m for the sale of Matt O’Riley, Champions League group stage prize money and some sizable fees for fringe players like Bosun Lawal, Mikey Johnston and Hyeongyu Oh.
And as the Celtic fans celebrate an impressive win over Rangers this afternoon, speaking before the game, Kenny Miller said he will be watching it with Ronny Deila in Saudi Arabia where he is a coach under the former Celtic boss at Al Wahda.
Celtic ‘moving in a different direction’ to Rangers
Pre-viewing the Celtic Park clash, Miller said he would take the game in with Deila as he got ‘brutally honest’ on where he sees Rangers compared to the Parkhead club.
Writing in the Daily Record, Miller said, “But even 5,000 miles away from Parkhead, we’ll still feel part of it.
“And judging by the noise around Rangers right now, maybe some Ibrox punters will wish they were watching it on TV in the Middle East as well.
“Let’s be brutally honest, Philippe Clement’s team will be going to Celtic Park as massive underdogs. Given how well Brendan Rodgers’ side finished last season and have started this one, everything points towards a home win.
“The clubs appear to be moving in different directions.”
Miller was right about Celtic
It’s not often we say this on 67 Hail Hail, but Miller is absolutely spot on with this analysis. Celtic are moving in completely the opposite direction of their rivals.
Brendan Rodgers is investing heavily in his first team, looking to compete in the Champions League and has got Celtic on course for their fourth title in a row.

The Celtic board have the club on a strong financial footing with some great work behind the scenes in terms of transfer deals and sponsorship.
Whereas Rangers look like they need to cut their cloth by offloading high-earning first-team players as well as needing to invest cash into upgrading Ibrox which has led them to playing their home games at Hampden for the foreseeable future.
For the Celtic fans, the future is looking good as their domination of Scottish football continues and if they can make progress in Europe this season then that would be the icing on the cake.
