Celtic head into the new week with a spring in their step, but the same can’t be said for Rangers.
It was another action-packed weekend of football in Glasgow, with Celtic beating Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup – that’s 11 goals in the last two home matches.
But, across the road, Rangers were beaten by Queen’s Park at Ibrox in one of the biggest upsets in Scottish Cup history.
As Brendan Rodgers and Celtic prepare for the Bayern Munich clash, it’s something to smile and laugh about because Philippe Clement’s side are embarrassing themselves again.
That New Year’s win over Celtic was a blip and it’s proven to be even more of an alien result/ performance from the title pretenders.
As you can imagine, the blood levels for those in Rangers colours have sky-rocketed following that Queen’s Park result and Kris Boyd was one of many venting his anger.

Just when you think Rangers can’t stoop any lower, they continue to impress you with how abject they are, both on and off the pitch.
Usually, Rodgers would have seen off Clement, but somehow, he is still in the job and Boyd agreed that the Queen’s Park loss is ‘one of the most embarrassing in the club’s history’, as he told Sky Sports News (10/02/25 at 1:15 pm).
The former striker highlighted the ‘really, really poor’ season the Gers have produced and how the latest showing has ‘topped the lot’.
“100%, there is no getting away from it,” said Boyd on Rangers defeat to Queen’s Park being one of the most embarrassing in the club’s history.
“When you look at this season. It has been really, really poor. That has topped the lot. To be knocked out of the Scottish Cup. Listen, upsets can happen. But Rangers can’t be losing at home to Queen’s Park.”

Rangers can now sit back and watch Celtic push for the Treble because it has been boosted by that Queen’s Park result.
In truth, it’s probably taken the cherry off the top of the cake, in truth, because – like the Scottish Cup final last season and the League Cup final in December – it would have been great to humiliate Rangers again at Hampden.
Nonetheless, a fuming Boyd was dropping some truth bombs about what is happening on the domestic scene in Scotland, as he referenced Celtic’s lead at the top and the trophies.
Boyd explained how ‘you can’t deny’ what Celtic are doing and that it is the ‘reality’.
“You look at the league table, it doesn’t lie,” added Boyd. “13 points behind having already beaten Celtic. Lost the League Cup final to Celtic and are now knocked out of the Scottish Cup. We aren’t even in the middle of February and domestically it’s over for Rangers already.
“Europe, for me, I think it’s papered over the cracks. I think a lot of people have looked at Rangers on a Thursday night and you can see some signs that the players have got themselves up for those games. But, come the Sunday after it, they have struggled. Rangers’ away form hasn’t been great.
“Philippe Clement is hanging onto his job, just. For the Rangers fans they will want to know, and I know that Patrick Stewart said that it wasn’t a financial decision, I think, right now, the Rangers fans need to know, is Philippe Clement only there now because of finances? In terms of the progression of the team. We haven’t seen that. There is nothing for any Rangers fan to feel optimistic about Philippe Clement carrying Rangers forward.
“The reality is that Clement can speak about creating chances and having opportunities. The reality is that Celtic are 13 points ahead of Rangers. They already have the League Cup in the bag. Rangers lost in the final. Queen’s Park knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup. That’s factual. You can’t deny that. It’s not been good enough.”
