Celtic have caused former Rangers player Kris Boyd immeasurable amounts of pain either on the park during his playing days, or off it as a Sky Sports pundit.

Since the year 2000, Boyd has watched Celtic become Scotland’s most successful team when he was at Rangers and during his time on Sky Sports.

As a player, Boyd watched Celtic lift three league titles between 2006 and 2010 as the Parkhead club continued to dominate Scottish football.

And over that time, the former Rangers man admits that there was one Celtic player who really hurt him during his time at Ibrox.

Kris Boyd in awe of Celtic icon Artur Boruc

Artur Boruc was an absolute hero to Celtic supporters. The Holy Goalie didn’t put up with any nonsense from any Rangers player during a derby and used to wind them up at any given opportunity.

But it was Boruc’s goalkeeping prowess that caused Boyd some pain as he admits his admiration for the former Celtic goalkeeper.

When asked by Chris Sutton, which goalkeeper ‘broke his heart, Boyd told The Warm Up, “I have to put my hands up. Boruc for me. My goal scoring against Celtic, it wasn’t great.

“So I’m going to Boruc, especially that day Mo Edu scored the winner at Ibrox when I was playing ping pong with Boruc for about five minutes before Mo slammed it in the back of the net.

“Yeah, Boruc, for me. Tell you what, he was some keeper.”

Artur Boruc’s best-ever Celtic save

Boruc made many phenomenal saves over his time as a Celtic player but there is one that will always stick out in the Hoops supporters’ mind.

Champions League night. Celtic Park. Man United come visiting. With Celtic 1-0 up, Boruc pulled off an incredible save from a Louis Saha penalty.

Have a watch of this:

Cool, calm and collected, Boruc looked unfazed as he helped put Celtic into the Champions League knockout phase for the first time in their history.
