Kyle Ure has been tipped to be the next big success at Celtic and follow in the footsteps of Callum McGregor.
Ure is on loan at Ayr United where he is under the guidance of Scott Brown in the Scottish Championship.
Brown has been very impressed by Ure and Jude Bonnar while the Scotland U21 international has been learning the trade of playing first-team football.
Hoping to make an impact with the Hoops next season, the midfielder has been flattered by the comparisons to the current Celtic captain.
Should Steve Clarke ask Celtic captain Callum McGregor to revoke his Scotland retirement for the 2026 World Cup?
Kyle Ure amazed by Callum McGregor comparisons
The 19-year-old caught the eye in Celtic’s pre-season campaign and didn’t look out of place at all.
Having won the academy player of the year award last season, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a first-team player at the Hoops.
McGregor isn’t getting any younger and his replacement will need to be found sooner rather than later, with many claiming that Ure is the rightful heir to his throne.
“I don’t think there’s a better person you can be compared to,” he told the Scottish Sun.

“Coming through at Celtic you’re trying to play how the first team plays. To be told you play the same way as the club captain, who plays in your position, is something you want to be recognised for.
“I’ve adapted to play that way. I can do other stuff, but to be recognised in the same way as him is amazing.
“You see Callum every day and he’s the best player in training. His team is always going to be winners!”
Kyle Ure inspired by Colby Donovan
Celtic’s academy has been a success story over the years as the likes of McGregor, James Forrest and more have all risen through the ranks.
Colby Donovan is the latest to break into the first-team, and as someone who has played with him at youth level, Ure says he is someone that he can take inspiration from.
“I’ve grown up with Colby and I know what he’s like, so it doesn’t bother him. He can get put into any situation and it wouldn’t affect how he’s going to play. Any time he plays, he’s going to give his all,” he added.
“Brendan Rodgers has left, but he really liked Colby because he had the personality and knew he’d grasp his chance.”
