Joe Hart’s decision to retire from football this afternoon would have come as a shock to most Celtic supporters.
The veteran ‘keeper came in at a time when the supporters were still reeling from the COVID season and recovering from the shock of watching Vasilis Barkas all season.
To solve this Ange Postecoglou invested £1m of Celtic’s money on Hart and it is fair to say he has paid that back and then some.
Five trophies later and being the first British footballer to win every domestic honour on both sides of the border, Hart has now decided to hang up his gloves at the end of the season and the decision was met with a plethora of messages on his Instagram from some of the world’s top footballers.

Joe Hart deserves all the plaudits
As well as Raheem Sterling and Kasper Schmeichel, Hart was also sent further messages on his social media post.
Former Arsenal defender, Gael Clichy replied with a huge round of applause, West Ham FC said, “Congratulations on a fantastic career, Joe!”
Asmir Begovic chipped in with, “Congratulations brother! Wishing you all the best.” and Celtic rapper, Big Bemz said simply, “Hero.”
There is little doubt that Hart will be missed. His personality and aura helped drag Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic to a domestic doublt in his first season and then onto an historic eighth domestic treble in his second.
Yes he was prone to a few mistakes but what cannot be denied is that when it came to the crunch and we analyse his whole time at Celtic, he will be viewed as an essential component of our domestic domination over the past two seasons.
The perfect retirement gift his Celtic team could do now is get their act together, win this title and the Scottish Cup and allow Hart to retire and return back to England as a true Celtic hero.
