Celtic have been linked with a move for Lennon Miller in recent weeks as the Bhoys look to strengthen the ranks once the January transfer window opens.

The Bhoys take on Motherwell on Boxing Day, knowing a victory will take them 12 points clear of Rangers, who are in action during the evening kick-off against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

While Brendan Rodgers will be aiming for three points, he will also get a chance to watch Lennon Miller at close quarters after Celtic’s recent links with the midfielder.

Celtic were quoted £4 million to sign the Scotland Under-21 international earlier in the year, but it remains to be seen if interest will emerge amid his return of four goals and five assists in 24 appearances this season.

Regardless, the 18-year-old has spoke out ahead of the clash and laid out what he expects from the encounter in Glasgow’s east end.

Lennon Miller previews coming up against Celtic

Speaking before his side head to face Celtic, Miller has made it clear he expects the hosts to be ‘massive favourites’ and talked up visiting Parkhead due to the experience of playing in front of a capacity crowd.

He stated: “Oh, it’s massive. Not only just for us but the experienced players as well. It’s a big stadium, it’s a good crowd and it’s the ones you want to play in as a footballer, you want to play in these big games.”

Later, Miller added: “Listen, we know Celtic are massive favourites and they’re always going to be favourites and we need to try and take something from the game, we’ll look forward to it and we’ll try to do what we do.”

On putting his own personal stamp on the game, he finished by saying: “You try to do that in every game, these ones are no different. I’ll look to try and get Motherwell three points.”

Celtic in the market for reinforcements come January

Strengthening the homegrown quota in January appears to be a priority, with Celtic interested in a return for Kieran Tierney next month.

However, there is also an emphasis on broadening their horizons regarding incoming talent, with Sarpsborg winger Sondre Ørjasæter another Bhoys target.

Miller may well be someone that comes into the discussion, but Celtic are unlikely to be the only club courting one of Scotland’s finest talents.

With Motherwell set to visit on Boxing Day, three points will be the immediate concern before consulting potential transfer avenues.
