With all the talk this summer of Celtic looking to add personnel to their first-team squad, the news that Liel Abada is being targeted by Turkish giants, Fenerbahce will not be welcomed by the Celtic supporters.

The little Israeli has been the subject of transfer interest in the past and the Daily Mail reports that Ismail Kartal is looking at taking him to the Turkish Super Lig this summer.

Abada had a mixed bag of fortune last season. A hamstring injury was obtained in March that kept him out for six weeks but prior to that, most of his minutes came from the bench due to the form of Daizen Maeda and Jota.

However, despite that, Abada did still manage to bag 13 goals and make nine assists as he helped Celtic capture a record-breaking eighth domestic treble.

Abada looked sharp and back to his best in the preseason friendly defeat against Yokohama F Marinos and the Celtic fans will be excited to see him as part of Brendan Rodgers’ side going into the new season.

However, if this move does go through it will see Abada link up with former Rangers midfielder, Ryan Kent who joined Fenerbache on a free transfer this summer.

The report says that Abada will command a fee in excess of £10m if Fenerbache are serious about taking him to Turkey. With three years left still to run on his contract, the ball is firmly in Celtic’s court on this one as they will be unlikely to want to lose him.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers was asked about the recent rumours linking Gremio winger Ferreira and Egyptian international Mohamed Reda after Celtic’s defeat to Yokohama.

Rodgers dismissed those rumours when he simply said, “I don’t even know them to be honest.” [Daily Record]
