Celtic’s transfer business has been somewhat unpredictable this summer. Even though the club had added three new signings, with another two on the way, in a strange way it does seem like a quiet window.

Maybe it’s because we all know Brendan Rodgers has a sizeable transfer fund that he hasn’t really dipped into as such. Either way, the fans are still watching and waiting to see if the club will make that ‘marquee’ signing. The one big addition that will get us all excited for the season ahead.

With Celtic already reportedly sounding out Gremio for Brazilian winger Ferreira, Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has claimed on Twitter that the Hoops have made contact with Egyptian Premier League side, Future FC about yet another midfielder.

Joseph tweeted, “Celtic are one of a number of clubs in Europe interested in Egypt international Mohamed Reda.

“It’s understood initial contact has been made & the Hoops are weighing up making an offer for the Future FC midfielder. Reda, 22, is mainly a CM, but can also play further forward.”

Reda only has one cap for Egypt which he earned in a 3-0 friendly win over South Sudan just last month. In 154 games in Egypt’s top tier, Reda has scored 17 and created 11 assists. [Transfermarkt]

Brendan Rodgers has also commented on the imminent arrival of South Korean duo, Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeok-kyu.

And whilst the Celtic boss couldn’t give a timeline of when they are likely to arrive in Glasgow, Rodgers admitted that work is going on behind the scenes to strengthen the team.

Rodgers said [Daily Record], “There is nothing to confirm as yet. We are working very hard on various things to make the group better.

“The best time to improve and develop is when the team is doing well. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to get the team ready for when it matters.

“And there is still a bit of time to go.”

The few days are certainly set up to be busy ones as the transfer rumours start to flow. But for now, all eyes will be on Japan this morning as Celtic prepare to face Yokohama F Marinos.
