‘Looks short’… Mark Wilson says one player at Celtic is really struggling right now

Celtic’s form this season has been the talk of the town but when the fans look at it there have been mitigating circumstances for it.

A horrific injury situation at the start of the season meant that Brendan Rodgers has never had a settled back four and he has had to tinker with his defence since the season kicked off.

The summer transfer window where poor recruitment hasn’t replaced the likes of Jota, Carl Starfelt and Aaron Mooy is also a factor but there is also the argument that some players at the club are just not good enough.

And that seems to be the feeling of Mark Wilson when it comes to South Korean international striker, Hyeongyu Oh.

Mark Wilson thinks Adam Idah is better than Hyeongyu Oh

The former Celtic defender was watching Oh against St Mirren at the weekend when he delivered his verdict on Oh and it’s one that doesn’t make good reading for the 22-year-old.

Wilson said [Superscoreboard], “He’s got the players that can fit into different styles, different systems. Kyogo’s one of them. He’s now got a target man that you can put up there that’s, I think, a better bet than [Hyeongyu] Oh.

“I think even when Oh came on in Sunday he just looks short.”

Oh has struggled for gametime this season and last due to the status of Kyogo Furuhashi and the ironic thing is if it wasn’t for the Asian Cup, he may well have gotten his chance in the first-team last month.

As it happens, Adam Idah was signed and it looks like the on-loan Norwich man is now preferred to Oh in partnering Kyogo up-top.

Time will tell whether the Korean will have it in him to make it at Celtic but for now Oh needs to try and convince Brendan Rodgers that he can make an impact in the Celtic first team.
