Luis Palma addresses plans for ‘second chance’ at Celtic after successful loan

Luis Palma has told Celtic that he ‘wants a second chance’ at the club.

The winger hasn’t made an appearance for the club since January 2025, spending the time since on loan at Olympiacos and Lech Poznan.

Currently in Poland, Palma has indicated a willingness to stay, but his hefty buyout clause is a significant stumbling block.

This may have changed a change in the 26-year-old’s stance on returning to Glasgow, if his words in a new interview are anything to go by.

Luis Palma says he’ll do his best on return to ‘high-performance environment’ at Celtic

Speaking to TNH via Alvaro De La Rocha on international duty with Honduras, Palma said: “At Celtic I had a great time, I enjoyed it a lot.

“I want to have a second chance, I have a contract with them, I’m still part of the club and if they say I have to return, I’ll do it in the best way possible.”

“My dream is to return to a high-performance league; for me, the Scottish league was a high-performance one.

“I got to play what every player wants to play, which was the Champions League—that dream hasn’t died yet. I want to feel that sensation again of playing one of those matches.”

Palma has enjoyed his time with Lech so far, making 25 appearances and scoring six goals. Reports claimed that he could be recalled by Wilfried Nancy in January, but this didn’t materialise.

Palma has said that he is happy in Poznan, though the aforementioned €4.5 million represents more than double the club’s record transfer fee.

Celtic paid £3.5 million to take the Honduran from Aris Thessaloniki in Brendan Rodgers’ first summer transfer window. He was, essentially, the Jota replacement.

A goal in his first league appearance at Fir Park seemed to indicate that he was the business, and he followed that up with two goals in the Champions League group stage.

He ended his first season with his goal tally in double digits, but in 12 appearances in the following campaign, he ended up with none.

Celtic players out on loan

Maik Nawrocki recently made his return from injury in the German second tier, where he is pushing for promotion with Hannover 96.

Shin Yamada joined Nawrocki in the division last month, but he already looks to be out of the plans at Prussia Munster.

Stephen Welsh’s last-minute return to Motherwell has seen him pick up where he left off at Fir Park: enjoying the best season of his career.

Johnny Kenny’s Bolton debut was controversial, as he was involved in a collision that left Reading’s Paudie O’Connor needing stitches.
