Luis Palma has been a bit of an enigma for Celtic.

The Honduran enjoyed a great start to his Celtic career after making a huge impact on both the domestic and Champions League scenes.

Palma scored ten goals and created ten assists in his first four months at Celtic which included an impressive performance against Atletico Madrid at Celtic Park.

The Honduran struggled to make an impact at Parkhead and quickly found himself on the Celtic bench. Now on-loan at Olympiacos, Palma has struggled again to claim a first-team starting spot.

But it seems that even though Palma has not enjoyed the best season at Olympiacos and Celtic, it seems he is still highly thought of by his national manager.

Celtic’s Luis Palma called up by Honduras for important national fixtures

Palma has been given the nod by Honduras boss Reinaldo Rueda as he gets the call to represent his country for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

With 20 caps and five goals, Palma is a hugely popular figure in his homeland and clearly highly thought of by the Honduran manager.

Luis Palma’s uncertain Celtic future

With Olympiacos refusing to take Palma to Greece permanently, it seems that Palma is set to return to Celtic this summer.

With Jota out for nine months, Palma could have the opportunity to stake a claim for the Celtic first-team squad.

However, with Maeda in the form of his life and Hyunjun Yang and James Forrest proving they are superb back up options, Palma will have his work cut out trying to force his way back into Brendan Rodgers’ plans.
