Maik Nawrocki will be returning to Celtic this summer after his season-long loan stint with Hannover 96.
After struggling for game time at Celtic, Nawrocki moved to Germany’s second tier to try to help Hannover 96 return to the Bundesliga.
For weeks and weeks, not only could Nawrocki’s side have secured promotion, but they could have done it automatically; three draws in a row to end the season have cost them.
24 hours after Celtic clinched the title against Hearts, Nawrocki had his own pressure cooker game to deal with.
He was starting in a back three for Hannover 96 against Nürnberg on Sunday afternoon on home soil, but a 3-3 draw meant that they couldn’t even clinch a promotion play-off match against Wolfsburg, with the Celtic loanee getting subbed off in the second half.

When Nawrocki first moved to Hannover, he didn’t start a league game until October, but then he started to click into gear after earning that chance.
Playing in a back three, he impressed on many occasions, with suggestions that Bundesliga clubs are courting Nawrocki ahead of the summer transfer window re-opening.
Not starting straight away, and injuries played a part in the 25-year-old only playing 17 games in 2.Bundesliga.
But the Poland star still ended himself a healthy rating of 7.22 by Sofascore for the season:
- Games: 17
- Starts: 16
- Minutes per game: 77
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 3
- Clean sheets: 6
- Team of the week: 3
- Sofascore rating: 7.22

Nawrocki deserves his Celtic chance
Celtic are cleaning house this summer, even though Martin O’Neill has guided the team to the title and a possible domestic double.
Now, nobody knows who will be Celtic’s next manager, but you just wonder if they will have Nawrocki in their thoughts, because centre-backs are needed for next season.
Even though Nawrocki has deserved more of a chance at Parkhead than what has been given to him, you wouldn’t be surprised if Hannover came back in for him or Celtic accepts a decent offer that is put on the table this summer, because it’s the easier option.
