Domestic matters are now over, as Celtic fans will turn their attention to this summer’s World Cup.

The United States of America, Canada and Mexico will co-host the World Cup, which officially kicks off on June 11th when Mexico lock horns with South Africa.

The majority of nations have named their World Cup squads, and many Celtic players have learned their fate and whether they have earned that golden ticket to world football’s biggest stage.

Marcelo Saracchi had a strong season at Celtic after moving to Glasgow on a season-long loan deal last summer from Boca Juniors.

Still, Marcelo Bielsa has left him out of his Uruguay squad for this summer’s World Cup.

Marcelo Saracchi won’t be going to the World Cup with Uruguay

The main headline from Uruguay’s World Cup squad is that Bielsa has opted not to select Inter Miami and legendary forward, Luis Suarez, 39.

But from the perspective of Celtic fans, it’s a shame that Saracchi also joins him on the sidelines.

At the age of 28, Saracchi is at the peak of his powers, and he recently helped Celtic win the domestic double.

That includes Saracchi’s cameo against Hearts, which helped Martin O’Neill’s side win the Premiership title on the final day of the season.

Saracchi’s strong Celtic form in numbers

As of this moment, Saracchi is heading back to Boca, but bet your bottom dollar, many Celtic fans want him to return for next season.

If O’Neill returns as manager for the new campaign, it will make it even wiser to bring back the South American star.

Yes, Kieran Tierney is the main left-back, but given that Saracchi has been able to compete with him all season long is a credit to the player.

Sofascore handed Saracchi a rating of just over seven for his Premiership performances, which included three goal contributions from his eight starts.
