Mark Guidi shares the ‘driving force’ at Celtic who sacked Wilfried Nancy, it wasn’t Dermot Desmond

The sacking of Wilfried Nancy was welcomed by the vast majority of Celtic supporters.

Nancy’s record at Celtic was the worst ever of any Hoops manager in the entire history of the Parkhead club.

Six defeats in eight games will be Nancy’s legacy, but it was Celtic’s defeat to Rangers that was the last straw for the board as they took their sweet time in taking action.

The first thing I would do if I was on the Celtic board is – – – –

Whilst Celtic fans waited for Dermot Desmond to pull the trigger, it appears it wasn’t the Irish billionaire who initiated the proceedings.

Mark Guidi has shared who really sparked the moves to sack Nancy and it will really surprise the Hoops support.

Michael Nicholson forced Celtic and Desmond to sack Wilfried Nancy

It took more than 48 hours since the Rangers defeat for the Celtic board to take action on Nancy.

And it appears it may have taken longer if Michael Nicholson hadn’t badgered Desmond to pull the trigger.

Speaking about the title race, Guidi told The Go Radio Football Show, “Paul, you could put Rangers, Hearts and Celtic in the hat and pick one out. That’s the way it lies for me. At the moment, I probably make Hearts favourites for the title.

“But I believe that Michael Nicholson, the Celtic chief executive who’s had a lot of criticism, a lot of abuse, I believe that Michael was the driving force for change in the past 48 hours in terms of going to Dermot Desmond and saying, ‘We need to do something. This cannot go on’.

“So Michael Nicholson, I think, deserves credit where it’s due for putting that on.”

You can listen to Guidi’s admission below:

If Guidi is correct, then the Celtic CEO does deserve credit as it seems the club’s dithering may have continued into this week if Nicholson didn’t intervene.

Who should leave Celtic next?

Well, with Peter Lawwell making his Celtic exit this month and now Wilfried Nancy following him, there are others in the Parkhead hierarchy that need to leave the club.

The Celtic Fans Collective have named various board members that need to leave the Glasgow giants in order for the club to progress.

Celtic have made countless blunders under Nicholson’s tenure and the CEO should be the next person to leave despite his interference to get Nancy removed.

But remarkably, the decision will be down to a shareholder who doesn’t even own the club as the decision-making is apparently left to one man and one man only.
