The January transfer window is just around the corner for Celtic and the subject of familiar faces being linked with a return to the club is never too far away.

Brendan Rodgers has a settled squad that would likely enjoy a successful campaign to some degree without any mid-season tinkering, but it is clear the Bhoys desire quality reinforcements to continue prospering.

According to reports, Celtic are interested in Kieran Tierney to strengthen the left-back position amid uncertainty over the long-term regarding Greg Taylor and Alex Valle, albeit he had reiterated his desire to retain the former on several occasions.

The wide areas have also become somewhere Celtic may look to strengthen, with Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sondre Ørjasæter reportedly on the Hoops’ list.

When discussing where Celtic may look to add reinforcements on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Wilson suggested that former icon Jota could be open to a move back to Glasgow amid his struggles at Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.

Firstly, he stated, relating to a previous caller on the show: “Well, someone called in, was it last week, and mentioned Jota.”

“So they paid, what, £6 million to take him there. If Celtic can do any sort of business and he would be interested in coming back, which I’m sure he would, I think the Celtic fans would take that all day long.”

Previously, 67 Hail Hail told that Jota may be available to move on from Rennes sooner rather than later after struggling to make an impact in his new environment.

Celtic supporters will always have love for Jota

Make no bones about it: Jota lit up Parkhead during his two-year spell in Glasgow and became a fan favourite among supporters, registering 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 appearances.

However, the thought of him returning any time soon will likely remain a distant fantasy. Financially, his wages could be a stumbling box, while UK tax regulations would also throw up red tape due to his previous stint in Saudi Arabia.

Nevertheless, there is no harm in keeping a fire burning. If there were to be any chance he was available and in reach, Celtic should ask the question.
