There has been a lot said about Celtic’s win over Aberdeen in the League Cup from pundits and former players over the last 48 hours.

The majority of people within the game have been praising Celtic’s Hampden performance against Aberdeen as Brendan Rodgers’ team booked their place in the final on Saturday.

The 6-0 win ensured Celtic put The Dons in their place and the Hoops will now face Rangers in the final next month.

However, the talkSPORT trio of Simon Jordan, Jim White and Martin Keown were discussing the use of pyro once again after Celtic’s kick-off with Aberdeen was delayed at the weekend.

And as Keown tried to move the discussion to the actual game and Celtic’s performance, Jordan appeared to dampen down the Hoops’ result and performance as a negative for Scottish football.

Keown praises ‘remarkable’ Celtic as Jordan offers negativity

Keown told talkSPORT, “Let’s have a last word on the football. Fireworks on the Celtic game between Aberdeen, 6-0. That’s pretty remarkable, isn’t it, joint top of the table?”

Jordan responded and appeared to try and pour cold water on the result and said, “This is disconcerting for the SPFL because what you want in that league is teams offering competition.

“And the fact that Aberdeen have just had their backsides handed to them by Brendan Rodgers’ in-form Celtic side who were criticised a few weeks ago [for the 2-2 draw].

Keown: “They did draw with them recently, didn’t they? This is a great result and a real message.”

Celtic look forward to RB Leipzig Champions League tie with positivity

Celtic can now look forward to the Champions League tie against RB Leipzig with an air of positivity now.

After drawing with Atalanta two weeks ago, the European landscape now looks different to what it was after Celtic were beaten 7-1 by Borussia Dortmund.

The 6-0 defeat of Aberdeen will fill Brendan Rodgers’ team with confidence and if they can pick off the Bundesliga club with a win, then the dream of qualifying from the league phase of UEFA’s top competition then becomes more of a reality.

Celtic currently sits in 20th place in the Champions League ahead of the likes of Leipzig, AC Milan and Bayern Munich.

A win at Celtic Park will pull the Bhoys ahead of the chasing pack and, just like the Aberdeen result did in Scotland, will send a message to the rest of Europe that Celtic are just here to make up the numbers.
