Martin O’Neill’s Celtic farewell was an emotional one on Wednesday.
But it seems that he isn’t dwelling over it.
O’Neill’s unlikely return saw him win seven of his eight matches in charge, reinstalling some much-needed confidence in a Celtic side which was struggling under Brendan Rodgers.
He drew back a seven-point deficit to Hearts in the Premiership table, beat Rangers after less than a week in the job and delivered an unforgettable 3-1 win against Feyenoord in Rotterdam.
But just a few days on, he’s straight back to work on punditry duty.

O’Neill had been on a solid media run before receiving the call from Dermot Desmond to return.
He was with Jim White and Simon Jordan on talkSPORT just hours before his appointment as interim boss.

And just three days on from his final game, he’s now been seen working on the international Premier League feed of Aston Villa vs Arsenal.
Martin O’Neill goes straight back into punditry work after Celtic exit
It’s little surprise given his ties to the Villans – and he’ll have been pleased with the result, as Villa moved within three points of the top of the league thanks to Emi Buendia’s last-minute winner.
Who knows, maybe Unai Emery will resign out of nowhere and he’ll return for an interim spell there too. After all, Shaun Maloney also played under him at Villa Park…
Time will tell if he covers any Celtic games – it could prove interesting if Wilfried Nancy doesn’t get off to a perfect start.
Or instead, he could proudly watch the players he now knows so well continuing the momentum he started.
Martin O’Neill’s interim Celtic spell
It was a whirlwind few days which saw O’Neill return to the Celtic Park dugout, but when his side thrashed Falkirk 4-0 in his first game back, it instantly felt natural.
Many willed O’Neill to stay on, at least to the Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren, or potentially even longer.
But Martin insisted that he was purely an interim solution until the eventual appointment of Nancy was completed.
In the end, he enhanced his Celtic reputation – if that was even possible after his first spell.
