Wilfried Nancy is expected to arrive at Celtic and take over from Martin O’Neill any day now.
Columbus Crew will be searching for a new boss soon as Nancy prepares for life at Celtic, and prepared he will need to be.
Because with all the furore between the Celtic board, the fans and the AGM still doing the rounds, Nancy will be in for a baptism of fire.
And who better to give advice on the matter than current interim manager Martin O’Neill, who has some strong words of wisdom for the incoming Frenchman.

Martin O’Neill tells Wilfried Nancy to take ‘nothing to do’ with Celtic board row
Nancy will be caught between a rock and a hard place as he finds himself stuck in the row between his employers and the fans.
But O’Neill says the incoming Celtic boss just needs to focus on one thing.
O’Neill told The Scottish Sun, “The new manager coming in should divorce himself from all those proceedings. This is a fresh start for him.
“He hasn’t been party to anything that’s happened in recent times.
“He’s going to step into something that really has been none of his concern.
Poll: Who would you like to become the new Celtic manager?
“That’s the way I would be approaching it and it’s not like passing the buck.
“It’s just saying, ‘Well, sorry, that’s not of my making — my making is to put Celtic back in the game’.
“Let’s say it was me and I’d never manage the football club again.
“I’d be saying, ‘Yeah, that’s got nothing to do with me, I have to try and win some football games’.”
Wilfried Nancy’s first five games in charge at Celtic
Nancy is expected to arrive at Celtic on the 1st of December to start a new chapter at the club.
And looking at the first five Celtic fixtures, Nancy is set for a baptism of fire but with one huge advantage.
- Wednesday 3rd December: Celtic vs Dundee
- Sunday 7th December: Celtic vs Heart Of Midlothian
- Thursday 11th December: UEFA Europa League: Celtic vs AS Roma
- Sunday 14th December: Premier Sports Cup final: Celtic vs St Mirren
- Wednesday 17th December: Dundee Utd vs Celtic
Three competitions, the chance to become an instant hero by lifting the Premier Sports Cup and a huge tie in the Europa League.
Nancy’s big advantage is, of course that three of these first five games are at Celtic Park and if we go one fixture further, the Frenchman also has another home league game against Aberdeen on the 21st.
It’s a huge month for Celtic and Nancy and one that could get his Parkhead career off to a flyer.
