The transfer window throws up all sorts of rumours and permutations for Celtic every single season.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to add new faces to the Celtic first-team squad for the season ahead but has also overseen a clear-out of players who are not part of his plans.
However, there is a Celtic player Rodgers wanted to stay who made his exit this summer and it appears Rangers should have tried to sign him.
Michael Stewart was looking at the state of Rangers’ start to the new league campaign when he said Greg Taylor would have made a ‘huge difference’ to the Ibrox club’s starting XI.

Indeed, Stewart isn’t the first to suggest Taylor should have joined Rangers, Kris Boyd made this claim on April Fools Day this year.
But it seems the BBC pundit was deadly serious.
Stewart said on The Scottish Football Social Club, “Domestic players that would make a huge difference. There’s Lennon Miller that’s just gone to Udinese.
“Go and spend £5m and make a mark. Now, that’s not to say the deal could get done, but go and spend.
“Look at the resale value you’ve got on him, but look at the quality that you get straight away. Greg Taylor, better left back than anything that’s in the club. There was nothing ever really done about that.
“Again, not to say that it would be done. And Laurence Shankland, up top, they could have got him on a free transfer.
“Shankland, Taylor, free transfers, £5m for Lennon Miller and go and get Vaclav Cherney, who was in the building already.
“Now, nobody can tell me that that those four players would not improve Rangers, not just in terms of quality, but the actual like steel and determination and desire that is sorely lacking.”
What Greg Taylor said about leaving Celtic for PAOK
Taylor left Celtic and joined PAOK on a free transfer this summer. There was never really any real chance of him joining Rangers.
This is what the former Celtic defender said upon his exit, “There was a few other clubs as well who we had some talks with, but it was just probably the amount of effort that PAOK put in to try and convince me to be part of their club.
“That made the decision all that bit easier. As you say, it’s going to be different, but I don’t think you gain anything sitting in your comfort zone. So I thought, ‘why not go and try something?’”
Taylor is set to be joined by former Celtic teammate Giorgos Giakoumakis as the Greek striker looks to head back to his homeland this summer.
Every Celtic fan will probably wish them both well as they start a new chapter in their careers.
