Celtic’s apparent interest in Kieran Tierney has been well-documented over the last few weeks. In fact, the chatter about a possible return was fueled by Brendan Rodgers over the weekend as the Celtic manager addressed the rumours that the Arsenal full-back may be open to a Parkhead return.
Obviously, the wages that Tierney currently commands could be a major stumbling block but with reports claiming that the former Celtic man is willing to take a wage cut to help along a possible reunion with Rodgers, the rumour just doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
And it seems that Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has added some intrigue to the matter with his recent comments on how he sees Arsenal’s transfer business going this summer.

Arteta said [DailyRecord], “Let’s see. There’s a lot of time in the market still.
“We’ll have to see how things develop in the next couple of weeks. We will be alert, there’s still time to do things, there’s still time for exits obviously. I am sure things will move.”
Not ‘could’, but ‘will’. Interesting choice of words considering the amount of intense speculation surrounding the future of Tierney.
Could Kieran Tierney make a Celtic comeback?
I have explained before on 67 Hail Hail that although Tierney would add extra quality to the Celtic team, we shouldn’t look to make this move happen.
Greg Taylor has done nothing to warrant losing his first-team place at Celtic if Tierney did manage to negotiate a return to the club. And that is exactly what would happen unless Rodgers can find a way to accommodate both players in the starting line-up.
And as previously discussed, it would mean that the club would be deviating from our recent transfer strategy of loaning players to buy. Not to send them back to their parent club.

However, Arteta’s comments, vague as they are, didn’t shut down the possibility of Tierney leaving Arsenal. In fact, it has probably stirred up more intrigue and speculation.
Tierney is obviously desperate to return to first-team football. It doesn’t look like it is going to happen at Arsenal. With the 26-year-old generating interest from Celtic and Newcastle, Arteta seems to have left the door open for the Scottish international to make his move out of the London club.
