The timing of Ange Postecoglou’s departure from Tottenham is pretty interesting.
The simple reason for that is Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic contract expires in June 2026, and as of this moment, there are no signs he will stay on beyond that date.
One thing that the Northern Irishman has guaranteed is the fact that he will be at Celtic next season, after winning four trophies during his second spell in charge.
If Rodgers does head for the exit door, and someone like Postecoglou is still out of a job, then you know what the gossip columns are going to be filled with.
But, the easy thing to do is for Rodgers to extend his contract, and there are calls for that to happen.

Brendan Rodgers told to sign a new Celtic contract
The summer transfer window will re-open, and you presume, if Rodgers puts pen to paper, then it would be the best deal Celtic could conclude, alongside Daizen Maeda staying put.
Frank McAvennie made it clear that it would be in his ‘interest’ for Rodgers to stay on board, including why Steven Gerrard was never going to return to Ibrox following Russell Martin’s appointment.
“Somebody very influential told me that he (Gerrard) can’t come back, because he would have to give away fortunes,” shared McAvennie.
“People saying to me, ‘he would lose millions, but he has got fortunes, so that wouldn’t matter’. I am saying, ‘don’t be so stupid’. Nobody loses £2 million.
“Brendan has got one year left on his contract. I would like to see that. My interest is that I would like to see him signing this year. Signing on. I would love to see him extend.”
Rodgers’ record in his second spell in charge of Celtic
When Rodgers first left Celtic in 2019, it ruined the relationship between himself and the supporters, at the time.
So, when Postecoglou left for Tottenham in 2023, it was a surprise to see the former Treble-winner return and don the green and white colours again.
Fast forward to the present, and it’s the best call Celtic have made because he is walking to the trophies again, and the relationship has been mended.
