Neil Lennon thinks Celtic are moving the ball slower under Brendan Rodgers in comparison to Ange Postecoglou.

As Celtic fans know too well and as Tottenham supporters are seeing on a weekly basis now, you would pay a lot of money to watch ‘Ange ball’ – John McGinn slammed the ‘nonsense’ he has been hearing.

That front foot nature and tunnel vision attack mode to the team under the Australian was a joy to watch, that’s why the team won the Treble under Ange Postecoglou’s services.

Now, the Bhoys won the Treble under Brendan Rodgers also, but the style of football since his return hasn’t exactly been full flowing, with Neil Lennon making it clear that the players aren’t moving the ball ‘as quick’, as he told PLZ Soccer

That was proven during the score draw against Motherwell at the weekend – Chris Sutton raised two questions from that match.

The fact that the team didn’t score from open play was deflating because goalless draws against Hibernian and St Johnstone this term have been equally frustrating.

Either way, Neil Lennon was pretty honest when talking about the club’s style of play.

Celtic style of play under Brendan Rodgers

“They were brilliant against Aberdeen two weeks previously and they won six,” said Lennon.

“You thought they have got their bit between their teeth. I didn’t see the draw with Motherwell coming with the form Motherwell have been in recently. And obviously Celtic at home, it would have been a comfortable home win.

“I always look at the goal attempts, especially at home. If it’s 20+, then they are doing something right. Maybe the build-up play is not as quick as it was under Ange, but that’s just Brendan’s way.”

January transfer window

You would assume Brendan has enough credit in the bank to rebuild this team with his own prints, even though it’s a Treble-winning side.

The January transfer window and next summer are crucial to backing him properly and that needs to come from the board.

The big positive that can be looked at is the lead at the top of the table is eight points, with a game in hand for Rangers.

Keep it to that length heading into the game on December 30 and secure three points at Parkhead, then the title should be heading back home again.
